Overview
Building on the record-breaking success of its predecessor, Rowan II is an 86-unit boutique condominium in Astoria. The design distinguishes itself with a tactile pale stone facade, characterized by fluid "swoops," organic curves, and floor-to-ceiling windows featuring distinctive rounded corners.
Execution
The project's signature "soft" aesthetic presented a rigorous installation challenge. Unlike standard flat panels, the GFRC modules featured complex curvatures and rounded corners that required specialized handling to prevent chipping during erection. Our team orchestrated a precise coordination strategy to align the rigid window wall units with the organic geometry of the GFRC panels. By strictly managing tolerances, we ensured a seamless transition between the glass and the stone-like curves, achieving the building's seamless, sculpted look.
Key Technical Highlights
GFRC Mastery: Expert handling and installation of complex, pre-cast GFRC panels with curvilinear geometries.
Complex Detailing: Executed custom rounded corners on glazing units to match the architectural radius.
Hybrid Alignment: Achieved flawless flush transitions between the window wall system and the projecting GFRC bands.
Aesthetic Continuity: Delivered a consistent visual finish across "pale stone" cladding and aluminum architectural metals.
