Overview
Situated in the heart of Queensboro Plaza, 4305C is a striking 9-story residential development. The building’s architecture is defined by its unique geometry, featuring continuous exterior bands that wrap around the structure, creating a distinct visual rhythm in Long Island City.
Execution
The building’s unique shape and protruding terraces presented significant installation challenges. The primary feat was the precise alignment of the heavy custom UHPC bands against the delicate unitized glass system. Our team utilized advanced surveying and strict tolerance controls to navigate the complex geometry, ensuring that the "floating" aesthetic of the concrete bands was achieved without compromising the watertight integrity of the curtain wall.
Key Technical Highlights
Complex Material Integration: Successfully married heavy UHPC panels with a lightweight unitized glazing system.
Geometric Precision: Overcame installation challenges posed by the building's irregular shape and continuous exterior bands.
Advanced Performance: Integrated bird-friendly solutions and high-efficiency thermal breaks within the unitized system.
Terrace Integration: Seamlessly transitioned from the main facade to private penthouse terraces emerging from the curtain wall.
